ELOCID is a triple therapy medicine manufactured by Eloipharm (U) Limited. ELOCID contains in each 5mLs bioactive Extracts of :
with a blend of natural excipients.
These plants have long history of use and work synergistically in dose dependent manner to significantly decrease gastric juice volume, PH and acid output to lower the ulcer index, ulcer score , number of ulcers and promote healing of ulcers.
ELOCID is formulated to assist in managing:
Elocid contains bioactive extracts of medicinal plants that prevent ulcer formation, reduces gastric acid output and infiltrating neutrophils and ameliorates oxidative stress in the gut . Major phytochemical compounds that account for these activities are the flavonoids, sesquiterpenes, polyacetylenes, phenolic compounds. In particular, flavonoids are considered anti-inflammatory agents and phenolic compounds have free radical scavenging potential. Other phytochemicals in ELocid are alkaloids, saponins, tannins and quinones.
Due to Aspilia africana extract, ELOCID exhibits parietal cell activity inhibition and cyclooxygenase 1 stimulation, an enzyme responsible for production of prostaglandins which facilitate production of mucus and bicarbonate thus inhibiting gastric secretion. Furthermore, Elocid ameliorates the increase in lipid peroxidation induced by ulcerative factors that lead to concomitant increase in activity of endogenous antioxidant enzymes. Flavonoids in Elocid reduces the oxidative stress in the gut by ulcerative factors like Helicobacter pylori, smoking, psychological stress, dietary intake of potential ulcerogens and use of NSAIDS. Because of Aspilia africana extract, Elocid inhibits neutrophil infiltration . Neutrophils release reactive oxygen species when they infiltrate ulcer sites and accelerate tissue damage due to reduced gastric mucosal blood flow and microvascular dysfunction.
Hoslundia opposita in Elocid interferes with adhesion of H. Pylori. Adhesion of this bacteria in the gut is believed to partly account for it's persistence in the gut of patients. Adherence of H.pylori to gastric epithelium is necessary early step in colonization and renders H.pylori 100 to 1000 times more resistant to antibiotics than non adherent bacteria. Furthermore, contact of live and intact H.pylori with gastric epithelial cells is a pre-requisite for IL-8 induction. IL-8 leads to neutrophils and monocytes into gastric mucosa causing inflammation and mucosal damage. ELOCID interferes with neutrophils infiltration. Essential oils of Hoslundia opposita contribute positive effect in treatment of stomach ulcer pain. Flavonoids exhibit antimicrobial activity and are helpful in reducing or preventing wound infection and promotes wound healing.
Bidens pilosa L in Elocid exerts a cytoprotective effect in addition to its gastric antisecretory activity that could be due, partly at least, to the presence of flavonoids.
Because of its ingredients, Elocid can decrease the gastric juice volume, acid secretion, as well as pepsin secretion in pylorus , accordingly inhibiting gastric haemorrhagic lesions induced by ulcerative factors.
Avoid Elocid in Pregnancy. Safety in pregnancy has not yet been established.
Do not use with blood sugar lowering medicines at the same time . Separate administration of such medicines by 2 hours and monitor your blood sugar as Elocid augements activity of blood sugar lowering medicines.
None observed.
